The Beginning of It All

On Sunday, May 18th the Bucknell In Northern Ireland (BUNI) group departed from Newark Airport for a three-week journey in Northern Ireland. In all, we total 29 individuals from different backgrounds and with interests but together we are all focused on understanding community and politics after the Troubles in Northern Ireland.

The group is based out of Londonderry or Derry, depending on your preference for our time here but we will be taking several trips to other areas including Belfast, Dublin, and the Antrim coast. Students and faculty spend a vast majority of the time working in community organizations and listening to speakers. Between the field notes, readings, and various other assignments, we find time to enjoy the beautiful scenery and explore the culture of this country.

Please take note to the student blogs that have been added to this page; several of our students are documenting their experiences in NI through their individual blogs. We welcome you to read them and follow them in their educational journey. In addition, I will be updating this blog regularly and adding photos throughout the duration of the trip.
